About the game
Air Assault is a real-time strategy expansion. Lead elite helicopter-borne forces across a tense 1989 World War III scenario. Command the U.S. 101st Airborne or the Soviet 56th Separate Air Assault Brigade. Build a custom battlegroup and launch rapid insertions backed by gunships and special forces. Jump in and take the fight to the front.
Gameplay
The story drops you into a late Cold War showdown in Europe in 1989. Two renowned air assault divisions face off as the U.S. 101st Airborne squares up against the Soviet 56th Separate Air Assault Brigade. Their backgrounds shape the arsenal on offer, from veteran Soviet improvisation to American air-mobile doctrine.
Gameplay centers on fast helicopter insertions, swift strikes, and flexible combined arms. You assemble a tailored battlegroup with new units and vehicles such as MH-60A DAP, AH-64A Apache ATAS, AH-6H Little Bird, and MH-47D Chinook. Ground elements include AERO-RIFLES, DELTA operators, GREEN BERETS, GAMA GOAT and M274 MULE transports, plus heavy support like the M-240 240 mm mortar and AERO M252 82 mm mortar. The Soviet side adds DSh infantry, SPETSNAZ GRU with captured gear, rocket-armed BTR-70s, LuAZ jeeps, ZSU-23-4M2 PSNR conversions, Mi-24P anti-air gunships, Mi-8PPA jammers, and MiG-27 attack variants. Play custom skirmishes solo or test your battlegroup in online battles.
